STRAIGHT STREET
Director's Report for October 2009
This past Saturday evening, we had an incident on the basketball court. A youth, through a freak sporting incident, wound up in ICU, losing consciousness, blind and bleeding on the brain, the prognosis was very grim. Sunday morning through many of you and your church members' prayers God showed Himself strong and COMPLETELY HEALED the young man. He has been released from the hospital, full recovery is expected. God is still in the miracle working businesses!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS.
We now have a new and complete Volunteer Protocol. Please take a few minutes to review it. We appreciatle all you do to help the kids at Straight Street!
STRAIGHT STREET CORE VALUES
1. Out of your OVERFLOW... Ministry means serving others.
2. Be consistent ..Always finish what you start-stay on task.
3. We are here for the kids-build relationships with them...they need you. And they might just change your life as
well!
4. Please come with NO preconceived notions-these kids have already been judged by the world-they need love,
grace, and peace...the fruits of the spirit, not religious judgement.
5. Always do what you say and understand this can be challenging both physically and emotionally.
Working with Straight Street young people is about True Servant hood on the frontlines.
It may well be the hardest work you ever do and also the MOST REWARDING.

Once again, Teen Make a Difference Day was an enormous success for our community. It was a blessing to once again be able to host the event and bring youth and volunteers, as well as employees to work at the event with. We hosted over 2500 teens this past Saturday. It was a Truly Powerful Event.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to all of you who volunteered or worked to help make the event such a success. YOU ARE A BLESSING!!
Director's Cut....Christmas 2009
Thank you for making an Eternal Difference
She was a young girl. Yet when the angel came, she was not afraid to say yes, even when confronted with an impossibility. Just as God chose the youngest son, David to be the next king of Israel after Saul, so He often chooses people who seem to be the most unlikely, unworldly selection for a special work.
The highest service may be prepared for and done in the humblest surroundings. In silence, in waiting, in obscure, unnoticed offices, in years of uneventful, unrecorded duties, The Son of God grew and waxed strong.
-INSCRIPTION IN THE CHAPEL OF STANFORD UNIVERISTY
What is the best gift you've ever received? What is the most memorable Christmas you've ever had? The best gifts are not the most expensive gifts. Sometimes a gift can be an affirmation of a dream we have. The most delightful gifts are the ones that are wrapped with love, thoughtfully chosen or crafted with the heart's desire in mind.
And the very best gift of all? Isn't it when we give and receive something of ourselves... when we are stretched and do something we didn't think possible? Just as God gave His very best gift, His only Son, so this Christmas, let us give the gift of ourselves - our time, our talents, our energy, our attention-to each other during this season.
The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself respect; to all men, charity.
-FRANCIS MAITLAND BALFOUR
Christmas is a child's holiday. A time of wonder, hope, and excitement of new things to come. This Christmastime may each of us, as the day nears, become more and more like Him. Him, who at this time in history became a little child, for our sake, more simple-minded, more humble, more affectionate, more peaceful, more joyous, more FULL OF GOD.
YOU Are the Heroes on the Frontlines -Thank you for pressing forward with the Founders' Dream...And taking it as your own.
